Hi! I’m Sarah and this is The Family Explorer, a blog dedicated to finding unique family travel experiences and family volunteer vacations. Thanks for stopping by to learn about my blog! Last year, I became a mommy to a little boy named Jackson. Prior to becoming a family of three, my husband, Brett, and I loved to travel and spent time in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and Costa Rica. I want travel to continue to be a priority for our family, but when I search the internet for family vacations, I’m overwhelmed with results listing all-inclusive resorts, theme parks, and cruises. While I’m certain that we’ll take those types of vacations, I also expose our little boy to other cultures and adventures. I want him to learn that getting out of his comfort zone can open up a world of new experiences!
This blog is my ultimate “bucket list” of travel experiences to have with my family. We plan to go on smaller trips until Jackson is old enough to enjoy more of these experiences, but I’ll be chronicling our adventures in the “Blog” tab. Under “Destinations” and “Family Volunteering,” I will be writing about locations to visit and activities to do as our family matures. By the time Jackson turns 18, I would love to have taken him to every state and as many continents as we can get to!
Fun Facts About Me:
I’m a born-n-raised Wisconsin girl who joined the Army Reserves out of high school and spent two years deployed overseas (one in Germany, one in Iraq). In 2006, I packed all of my belongings into my car and moved to Southern California to join AmeriCorps and work for Habitat for Humanity. I met Brett at a SoCal bar when his friend danced into the middle of my group of friends. He came over to apologize, and the rest is history! We welcomed our son, Jackson, last February. He’s an awesome little guy and the inspiration behind this blog!
