Cook Like a Local in Beijing
A cooking class is one of my favorite things to do on a vacation! You get to learn to prepare a local meal AND you can relive your vacation whenever your family makes the meal at home. The hands-on class at Beijing Cooking School will teach your family how to prepare a traditional Chinese meal. You’ll even get the take-home recipe so you can put your new skills to use in your own kitchen!
Where: Beijing, China
Tour Info: There are two major styles of classes- wok classes (stir fried meats and/or vegetables, braised meats, salads) and pastry classes (dumpling, dim sum , and noodles). Classes are Monday-Saturday from 10:30 AM-2:30 PM. You can also attend the option market tour prior to your class (at 9:00 AM). The market tours are a great way to learn about local produce, spices, and sauces from an English-speaking guide. The cost for the market tour and the class is roughly $65, depending on exchange rate. Check their schedule of upcoming classes to find a meal your family will love!
Age: The pastry cooking class is suitable for ages 12 and up. The wok cooking class is more difficult and better for adults.
