Give Kids the World Village
Is your family vacationing in Orlando? Take a day to volunteer at Give Kids the World and help children with life-threatening illnesses!
Where: Kissimmee, Florida (about 30 minutes from Orlando)
Mission: Give Kids the World Village provides cost-free, week long fantasy vacations to children with life-threatening illnesses and their families. Children and families are given accommodation at the resort, meals for the week, and donated admission tickets to local attractions (Disney World, Universal Studios, etc.). The entire resort is designed specifically for children with special needs and includes a game room, train rides, horses, a pool, and daily entertainment. Families staying at Give Kids the World Village are referred by a wish-granting organization, such as Make-A-Wish Foundation.
How you can help: Give Kids the World depends on volunteers to help fulfill the wishes of the children staying at the resort. Volunteer opportunities vary based on age, but include serving food, helping operate the rides and train, providing transportation to guests throughout the resort,helping run crafts and entertainment, and MUCH more! Whatever your interests are, you are sure to find an opportunity here!
Timing: Volunteers are needed year-round, but their busiest time is in September and October. Volunteers can schedule one shift (3-4 hours) on one day or schedule several shifts across many days.
Age: Volunteers age 12 and older are welcome!
